Class #19 January 26, 2017

Gary’s workshop at 6:30 pm, John’s review at 7 pm, then Charlie’s lesson at 7:30 pm were all well attended! Great teaching and great learning all the way around!

Charlie taught the following:

  • Dixie Style to an Ocean Wave
  • Scoot Back
  • Recycle (this was review)

Sheriff, Mary Kay, composed the following timely poem:

The rain has stopped
The sun is out
We all are happy
There is no doubt

If you agree
I'm sure you do
One dollar now
Will make it true

Nice!

Our co-sheriff, Linda, was back with us – it was great to see her.

Remember that we have our half-way dance in two weeks (Thursday, February 9) and that the theme is Valentine’s Day so wear red and white to help celebrate. There will be no instruction that evening and dancing starts at 7 pm. This will be a great chance to practice what we have learned so far.

On Thursday I had an opportunity to dance in lots of squares. This class is doing very well!

Just a reminder that Gary Milton does a square dance workshop from 6:30-7:00 pm and John & Sandy do review from 7:00-7:30 pm just prior to instruction with Charlie Robertson.

Mary Kay reminded us that it’s time to plan for Valentine’s Day by fining us if we haven’t done so. Thank you Pat for helping Mary Kay with sheriff duties.

Remember that the Ramblin’ Rogues Half Way dance is on February 9 and the theme is Valentine’s Day. The dance schedule is 7:00-9:30 pm located at the regular dance hall we use for Thursday night instruction. At the back of the room for each Thursday night class there is large display and flyers that advertise this dance.

Carol Silver announced that there is material available for the current Ramblin’ Rogues outfit. Note however, that by June we expect to announce a new outfit that will replace the current one.

Ken Rohde announced that tickets are being sold to a ‘Music Under the Stars Summer Concert Series’ event at Mission San Juan Capistrano on Saturday, July 8. A Bee Gees Tribute band will be performing. This event is always well attended by the Ramblin Rogues.

Quin led us in a round of God Bless America at the end of the evening. Thank you Quin!

The class members are really doing well - they've learned quite a few calls at this point!

There will be line dancing from 7:00 – 7:30 pm then square dancing from 7:30 – 9:30. The normal instruction will simply be replaced with dancing and the calls will be at class level.
It was announced that the Orange Coast Lariats will be hosting a Half Way Dance tomorrow (Friday, January 13) at the Garden Grove Woman’s Club. Contact ph 951-678-9086 for additional details.
Last Sunday’s Practice and Pizza, hosted by John and Sandy Hill was a wonderful learning and social event. There will be another one on Saturday March 4 so mark your calendars! Thank you John and Sandy!
Remember that Gary Milton always does a workshop from 6:30-7:00 just before John Hill does review on Thursday. We usually have 2 or 3 squares and it is very helpful. Thank you Gary!
